Mission and approach
Founded in 2005, Danialle Karmanos’ Work It Out (DKWIO) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit program that delivers quality programming to give children the tools to make healthy choices. Our mission is to eradicate childhood obesity and promote optimum health in mind, body and spirit through a yoga-based approach that reduces anxiety and increases self-esteem.

To achieve its mission, Danialle Karmanos’ Work It Out (DKWIO) reaches hundreds of kids each year through 10-week yoga and nutrition programs.

The foundation of a healthy body begins with understanding what food makes the body strong, energized and fit. DKWIO incorporates nutritional lessons for children of all ages.

For children to get started on a healthy lifestyle, they need to exercise every day. Yoga benefits both the body and the mind—it’s a physically empowering practice and calms a child’s otherwise busy world.

DKWIO employs a holistic and yoga-based model based on proven, structured tools—such as the program’s unique 1-hour formula—that maximize the organization’s impact and reach. This  straightforward, repeatable formula maximizes our ability to expose children to life-changing tools and resources.

1 Hour Formula

  • Introduction – 10 Minutes
  • Nutrition – 5 Minutes
  • Activity (Yoga Practice) – 30 Minutes
  • Relaxation – 10 Minutes
  • Recap and Resources – 5 Minutes

In the United States alone, more than 2.3 million children suffer from childhood obesity. This problem threatens the health of our kids, our families and our nation. Through our yoga-centric approach and our systemic model for equipping kids to make healthy choices, DKWIO is making a difference for thousands of kids.
